Steel River Power Limited (SRP) owns and operates the private electricity distribution system serving Teesworks – the UK's largest freeport.

Formed in October 2024, SRP is a 50:50 joint venture between Steel River Energy and North West Electricity Networks (UK) Limited, part of the Scottish Power and wider Iberdrola Group. This partnership combines decades of engineering know-how with deep land and asset management experience, all focused on delivering dependable energy infrastructure.

Our roots run deep in the North East. For over 40 years, this network supplied the former steelworks that once defined the landscape. Today, we're building on that legacy — powering the next generation of industry and innovation on Teesside.
